From the outside you look like the couple who has it all. Together you’ve achieved some great things but behind closed doors things are falling apart. You don’t feel like the partners you long to be, the sex isn’t always great, the kids, work and finances are a lot of pressure. You wonder when you started to grow apart and when you try and talk about it you end up having the same fight over and over again. Things may have even reached a breaking point if you’ve discovered cheating or another breach of trust such as undisclosed pornography use or other forms of betrayal and dishonesty.

Using Emotionally Focused therapy, I help couples create the relationship they dream of, one where you can truly be yourself and be heard and understood. Whether you want to strengthen an already good marriage or relationship or heal one that has open wounds or ruptures I am passionate about helping you. Whether it’s individual counseling, couples counseling or some therapeutic group work I have the skills to help you heal and create the life you dream of.

I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment so that we can create the safety necessary to strengthen or heal a relationship. Once you learn to see and hear each other differently you will be able to have these conversations in your day today life. I am the founder and clinical director of Secure Intimacy Marriage & Family Counseling. I graduated with a masters degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from Gonzaga University. I have advanced training (Core Skills) in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the gold standard of couples therapy. I also have training and years of experience working with couples who have experienced relational wounds from infidelity and/or unwanted pornography use. I founded and created Secure Intimacy with the vision of having a place in Spokane where the whole family can receive compassionate care. I am a board member for the Eastern Washington Northern Idaho EFT community (EWNIEFT). I also offer my speaking and presenting skills to churches and other groups throughout Spokane. I am a great fit for: individuals who want to take their life to the next level couples who want to strengthen their relationship or heal from ruptures in the relationship. My current focus is facilitating groups for men who want to overcome unwanted pornography use, infidelity or other forms of compulsive sexual behavior. Facilitating groups for women who have experienced intimate betrayal and betrayal trauma.

You may feel overwhelmed by anxiety and depression, often feeling unseen and misunderstood by those you love. You’ve faced significant challenges in life and now seek to heal from these painful experiences and build resilience. If you’re struggling in your relationships, haunted by your past, and unsure how to process these experiences to improve your life, know that you’re not alone and that transformation is possible. Your journey towards a more empowered and fulfilling future is important, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

My clients build a sense of calm and peace; make sense of their emotions; and work to process past trauma in order to live wholeheartedly on their own terms.  From our very first session, we will work together to create meaningful therapy goals specific to what you want out of your sessions with me. You deserve to get measurably better! The more healing that needs to be done, the longer therapy takes, but my goal is always to “work myself out of a job” because you have achieved what we set out to accomplish.

I have been a therapist for over 10 years.  I specialize in Brainspotting (a powerful, focused, body-based treatment method similar to EMDR) and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), the gold standard for couples therapy. I provide affirmative therapy to LGBTQIA+ couples.  As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I can work with individuals or relationships, but I will always think of you (and the problems we work on together) in the larger context of your relationships, your past, and the systems you live within. I want to support your healing in a way that is affirmative and meaningful to YOU!

I am a good fit for individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles, and those seeking to heal from past traumas and build a more fulfilling future. My expertise in Brainspotting and Emotionally-Focused Therapy, coupled with my affirmative approach to LGBTQIA+ couples, positions me well to support a diverse range of clients on their journey towards healing and resilience.

You’re a parent deeply concerned about your child or teen. It’s tough to see them struggling, and you understand that these challenges are part of life, not a sign of failure. You might be dealing with your own anxiety, feeling the weight of depression, or coping with personal trauma. Perhaps you’re navigating difficulties in relationships, addiction, or parenting itself. Your worries are valid, and your desire to help both your child and yourself through these times speaks volumes of your love and commitment. You’re seeking understanding and support to navigate these complex emotions and situations.

I am committed to helping your child or teen or you through your current challenges. In our therapy sessions, I will engage with you using a holistic and client-centered approach. I believe that the solutions you need are within your grasp, and my role is to facilitate their discovery. My primary goal as a therapist is to empower my clients to find and trust their true selves, guiding you towards effective solutions and fostering resilience in facing life’s challenges.

I hold a Masters Degree in Social Work from Boise State University. My six years as an Elementary School Counselor in the public school system fostered a deep love for working with children. Engaging with young minds in this vibrant and dynamic environment, I witnessed the resilience, creativity, and unique perspectives of children every day. This experience not only enriched my professional skills but also ignited a profound passion for supporting and nurturing the emotional and psychological well-being of children, shaping my approach and dedication in my career.  In my transition to community mental health, I learned the complexity and diversity of mental health challenges, gaining invaluable insights into managing conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma, and psychotic disorders. This experience deepened my understanding of therapeutic approaches, enhancing my ability to provide compassionate and effective care to individuals from various backgrounds and with differing needs.

I am a good fit for a diverse range of clients, including adults, teens, and children as young as four years old. My experience extends to working effectively with LGBTQ individuals and families, understanding their unique challenges and perspectives. With a skill set tailored to meet the needs of each age group and community, I help my clients navigate their individual challenges and support their personal growth. My approach is inclusive and empathetic, aiming to create a safe space for all clients to heal and thrive.

Are you wanting to reclaim your authentic self? You want to be more in control of your anger and emotions, not be taken for a ride again and again. You “know better” yet are frustrated that you keep doing the same thing. Or maybe you’re in a relationship that’s disconnected and you want to revive the love and intimacy? These can be challenging issues to face alone. Unfortunately, many people learn to tune-out or dissociate in these situations, which can cause more difficulty and lead to feeling stuck or hopeless. I focus on integrative practices that address your mind, body, spirit and emotions – it’s not all in your head.

Together, we will explore ways to honor your experiences, rebuild trust in yourself, enhance self-expression and boundaries, and foster personal growth. Through somatic techniques and evidence-based therapies, you’ll be guided to reconnect with your body’s wisdom, embrace self-compassion, and empower yourself to live a life aligned with your values.
Imagine feeling grounded, confident, and in touch with your inner strength and intuition. Envision a relationship where you each experience deep connection, mutual respect, and shared joy. It’s possible, and I am here to guide and support you every step of the way.

With a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Whitworth University, I have gained a deep understanding of the complexities in family dynamics and relationship issues. My training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy under Kathryn DeBruin, including both the Externship and Core Skills programs, has equipped me with valuable insights and techniques for fostering emotional connections and healing. My involvement with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) further enhances my expertise in this area. Additionally, my training in Lifespan Integration at Level 4 with Carrie Cochran has provided me with unique approaches to addressing psychological issues across different stages of life. These experiences and trainings contribute to my holistic approach in therapy, allowing me to offer compassionate, effective guidance to my clients.

I work with teens, Individuals and couples.
