I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (2005) and have been practicing locally in the mental health field for more than 24 years in various clinical settings. I utilize a client-centered approach to employ evidence-based therapeutic modalities; CBT, Trauma-Informed, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment, Solution-Focused, DBT, EFT, Lifespan Integration, etc. I have extensive experience working with unwanted sexual behavior, sexual addictions, pornography, sexual deviance, and secondary duplicity/ deceitfulness. Treatment of such emphasizes focus on origin identification and healing, full disclosures/ transparency, attachment needs, identification of additional problem areas, crisis and maintenance/ sustainability planning, strengthening support network/ repairing relationships.
If you have tried, unsuccessfully, to stop unwanted behaviors on your own, and often feel powerless against them, you’re not alone. Many adults are successful in multiple areas of their lives, but cannot seem to overcome unwanted sexual behaviors, leaving them feeling alone, discouraged, confused, and ashamed. The struggle feels manageable for a while, but becomes heavier over time. Guilt builds, secrecy becomes more difficult, and you may find that you have started to distance yourself from loved ones.
The good news is that a life of freedom is possible. Therapy offers a space for you to feel accepted and understood. No story or detail is taboo. I specialize in recognizing that the behavior is a maladaptive response to previous trauma or unmet needs that require nonjudgmental attention. Each case is unique, and each case plan is tailored to meet the client’s specific needs. If you are ready to release yourself from your unwanted behaviors, and begin a path to a renewed version of yourself, help is here for you.
The number one predictor of therapeutic success, across the board, is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist – thus, the most important part of your therapy journey will be the care and support that you receive within your sessions.
